The International Motor Carrier Audit
Commission (IMCAC) is an independent organization dedicated to providing information about
the safety performance of motor carriers (truck and bus companies), to the public and the
transportation industry.
IMCAC determines a carrier's IMCAC Safety Performance Rating by comparing the carrier's accident rate to that of others that transport similar cargo. IMCAC calculates the accident rate based on publicly available data. However, because publicly available data are often out-of-date or inaccurate, IMCAC strives to work with motor carriers to correct any errors, and to use only the most current information available. We do this through the Data Verification Process. Because of our Data Verification Process, the most accurate IMCAC ratings in our data base are those which are designated as "Data VERIFIED". In addition, carriers who want to demonstrate their commitment to safety have opted to have the results of an on-site audit displayed as part of their IMCAC rating. Passing an audit confirms that a carrier's low accident rate is most likely due to good management controls. These carrier ratings are designated as "AUDITED". THEREFORE, for the most accurate and reliable information available, look for motor carriers with the IMCAC Safety Performance Rating designated AUDITED/Data VERIFIED. You can learn more by reading about IMCAC and our rating process.
